A dirty pillow, foundation, hats? The list is endless...

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

Most common items that cause acne, from dirty makeup brushes, sweat and clothing detergent, and how to keep everything that touches your skin clean and protected from acne so that it can clear from the outside. If your acne appears stubbornly in one place, take a minute to think about what might be touching that area of your skin: Letting your hair hang on that side of your face, a cell phone, sleeping on one side of the face. A dirty pillow, foundation, hats? The list is endless, so pay close attention to what might be irritating your skin in that area and then take steps to eliminate it. Are you trying to figure out how to wash your makeup brushes without leaving an oily film that induces acne on them? Wash your makeup brushes every Sunday morning with any face cleaner safe for acne and let them dry overnight so they are all clean for the work or school week. Dirty cell phones Pressing your cheek and chin against the screen of a cell phone exacerbates the oils that produces comedones. Keep your skin clean by keeping your cell phone clean with a morning antibacterial cloth, or invest in a hands-free device to have messy conversations. PRO TIP: Clean your phone with alcohol to kill bacteria and reduce oils that can come into contact with your skin. Mobile phones are one of the main causes of outbreaks along the cheeks, chin, and jaw. That’s because we keep our phones where bacteria like to thrive: kitchen tops, jeans pockets, or the bottom of our wallets. Think: Would you put your face there? Keep the hand lotion away from your face. Touching your senseless face on your desk or in the car and sleeping with your hands under your beard transfers the hand lotion that obstructs the pores just where you don’t want it. Do you know? Eating fried foods is bad enough for the skin, but touching your face with oily hands or leaving a oily residue on your beard and around your mouth can also be the source of new problems. Do a quick cleaning after a greasy meal. Kleenex (Face)

Check the ingredients in your Kleenex lotion with Aloe and other brands. They add ingredients to increase the smoothness that can cause acne, such as the isopropyl palmitate that obstructs the pores and coconut oil. Masks, straps and pillows in sports If you have outbreaks in the area where the mask touches your beard, or your cheeks or hoodies rubbing against your skin, you are likely to stimulate the outbreakers and have not noticed.
